Stillness House began with a clear intention: to create a home where, once you cross the threshold, you can leave behind the noise, the traffic, the dust and the bustle of Bucharest. I wanted the passage from the city to the personal space to be felt through an atmosphere that invites you to unwind and reconnect. I chose a Japandi-inspired language, with clean volumes, balanced proportions and a warm, neutral palette. Wood, mineral-look surfaces, tactile textiles and matte finishes build a calm ambience with depth and variety. Vertical fluting introduces rhythm, and mirrors amplify the light and the interior perspectives.
Ambient lighting complements the natural light, supporting the transition between the day’s activities and moments of rest. I integrated function into this composition through discreet storage, furniture adapted to the space and fluid circulation. The organization of the shared and private areas allows for both closeness and retreat, and the placement of the furniture follows the comfort of everyday gestures. The approach to the project places sensory experience at the center of the design process. I correlated light, textures, proportions and functions with the mood I wanted to create: the feeling of a protective interior in which every element naturally finds its place. A sustainable perspective is pursued through efficient use of space and timeless aesthetic choices, meant to keep the interior relevant and reduce the need for frequent changes. Through Stillness House, I sought to give stillness a concrete form, one in which the value of the interior is felt every day.
